Movie Opens 8/9/2006??? Not really sure the impact that will have

I don't know much about movies but have yet to hear anything good about this one. Talk about a niche market. Who has extra time and money to go re-live that whole episode?

Im not sure what this movie is going to do yet, but I do know that this is a bad number and that I took the max $100/83 on the under.

This number will present a great hedge, scalp or middle.

Sportsbook going O/U 27.5 for 3 days, both sides -120

I guess 30 in 5 days is achievable so Pinn's price looks value as does the under at Sportsbook.

Addition:
TheGreek going 31 Mill. for 5 days, again under heavy fav.

the sportsbook/hollywood(where i bet it) is a bad line, plain and simple...i already got my hondo down yesterday as well....

i also bet, the WWTS over20million -115 3 day weekend...

im sitting on a 7.5million middle with over20million under 27.5

3units on the over20million
1unit on the under27.5million

thats where i stand this week and to be quite honest i might be done for the week (depending on what i dig up this week)...i ended up actually losing small money last week b/c i lost that prop at the greek and was stupid for not betting over 8.5M at pinny...i lost my straight bet on descent by 89K at wsex (that was unacceptable)...the money was peanuts overall but it shoulda been a winning week as i had TN pegged cold...i feel like i let one slip thru my hands last week....i dont mind losing the prop at greek b/c i had the best line...i just wish i had bought back a little of it...barnyard brokeout and everything i had was pointing to a much smaller opening...

ok wwts dropped WTC back to 20m ov-30....for those who want to bet it

its still very early in the week but here's why i bet it so early..

A) People are gonna look at United93 and say "it only did 11.5million"....i expect this movie to be like that one....fact: United93 opened in only 1795 theatres....WTC is listed at 2800+ (actuals not out yet)....United averaged 6400K per theatre...take 2800X6400per and we get it to 18million...get it to open in 3K and we are over 19million...WTC has 2 big names in Cage and Stone...

i got this off WW and i really think its a solid point "Oddly, Paramount Pictures is trying to target a younger audience in hopes that they’ll see the 9/11 attacks as their Pearl Harbor and want to learn more about it. (Not likely, since this is the summer and who wants to do Social Studios homework with school out?) The fact that the movie is PG-13, rather than R, will make it easier to find that audience, but the commercials are going out of the way to make the movie seem important with its tagline of “every generation having a defining moment” and the use of Coldplay to appeal to the 20 and 30-somethings that will probably be the most interested in the movie"


B) theres really nothing thought provocating/drama based being released and there hasnt been in a while...ANY husband and wife that wants to get out and see something serious will have to see this...i said last week all the older movies were runing their course...what do we have this week...Pirates and the others are all another week older...Pirates itself will do around 6/7million this weekend...MV is a BUST already and do 5/6million...Barnyard is kids so really not competing with this one...in the new releases we have another kids movie...a STRICTLY teenie bopper girls movie and another horror thriller type movie...all these expected to do in the 7-10million range...none of them play into the genre..the only real competition is Talladega not genre wise but something that could pull people away from this is TN and that could/should be the #1 movie again this week...


i know WTC is opening on wednesday and people will see it on wed and thursday and that will take away from the weekend BO but 20M just looks too low IMO...by no means im i locked in and ready to go WOM could be HUGE in determining just how this does on the weekend....if i do buy out or something i will post...i will be watching like a hawk later in the week...thats a certainty...

2803 theatres for wednesday...i dont know if it will get bumped up on friday or not....


i have a really weird feeling on this movie for some reason probably b/c its opening early...will see what wsex posts for a total and see where pinny lines goes.....i dont mind my bet right now...but i dont have that "its a lock" feeling...WOM will be huge...

the screen count is not huge...its playing on 2 at my friends theatre....but the total is also not huge so...take it fwiw...last weeks TN was on 3 and that almost hit 50million so this one can easily hit break 20 at wwts if people want to go out and see it...touchy subject so you just dont know peoples reaction...the one thing going for it is, its not a documentary or a retelling of the events...its based on these 2 guys and their heroism...etc...i think if anything that angle would help it as im sure a lot of people dont wanna see a movie retelling the event of 9/11....

Since I aready have the under 27.5 at Sportbook for the 3 day
I went ahead and gambled on the 5 day over 30 mil +137 at pinny.

This seemed like a little better option than the over 20 3day at WWTS because if it can do say 11 0r 12 on wed and thur, then that creates a bigger middle with very high + juice.

On the other hand if it only does 8 or 9 I can still hope for decent WOM to get me over 30 mil. Even though I have no interest in seeing this film, everything that I have read makes me believe that it is a good movie.

Just got home from the showing at Ziegfeld, which is a theater in NYC and it was 2/3 full, but the 1pm show was sold out. Take that for what its worth.

According to nf, it did well in NYC and poorly in the Southeast on Wednesday, both averaging out to about 2100. So should be around 6mil for Wednesday.
